Create your own custom ink colors with the Kuretake Karappo Empty Marker!
"Karappo" means "empty" in Japanese, and these DIY markers let you fill the pen with virtually any color you can imagine. This version features an extra fine tip, making it perfect for detailed lettering, illustrations, journaling, and precise line work.
Please note that this is an empty pen and does not include ink. It can be filled with most fountain pen inks and other non-waterproof liquid inks. Compatible options include Kuretake's Ink-Cafe at Home kit, Ink Cafe Meiji no Iro inks, Art Nouveau Inks, Pebeo Colorex, and Ecoline watercolor inks.
Thicker inks, including acrylics, waterproof pigment inks, and metallic inks, are not recommended, as they may clog the marker or prevent the ink from flowing properly.
To fill the pen, simply soak the included ink reservoir with your chosen ink and seal it inside the marker body.
Please note: This is a disposable marker. Once it has been filled and sealed, it cannot be opened and refilled. If you're looking for a reusable option, check out the refillable Karappo Cartridge Type markers.
