Foolish Designs is an independent design studio specializing in playful, risograph-printed paper goods. What began in 2020 as a creative outlet for comfort in Carrie’s childhood bedroom has since evolved into a vibrant small business. Born out of the pandemic, Foolish Designs grew from handmade creations into a unique brand known for bold colors, nostalgic vibes, and thoughtful design. Now based in Richmond, VA, the studio focuses on limited edition prints, zines, stationery, and more—offering a fresh take on analog art in a digital world.

Risograph printing is a unique, eco-friendly printing technique that combines the charm of traditional screen printing with the efficiency of digital duplication. Known for its vibrant colors, rich textures, and distinct imperfections, risograph printing uses soy-based inks and stencil-based layering to create bold, high-contrast designs with a tactile, handmade feel.

Originally developed for high-volume office printing, risograph printing has been embraced by artists and designers for its affordability, sustainability, and unpredictable beauty. Each print is slightly different, with misalignments and ink variations adding to its character.
